Alex Brumley’s martial arts journey began at just three years old, growing up on the mats of Taekwondo University under the instruction of his parents. By the early 2000s, he had earned his 4th Degree Black Belt and official instructor certification. To broaden his discipline as a martial artist, Alex spent the next 12 years studying 2 Japanese Martial Arts. Kyokushin Karate and Aiki-Jujitsu. In 2025, when his parents retired after 40 historic years, Alex jumped right in to take over the family school. Now a 5th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, Alex Brumley combines four decades of family legacy with a diverse martial arts background, dedicated to instilling discipline, confidence, and a lifelong passion for martial arts in the next generation.

Kaiya Brumley

3nd Degree Black Belt

As a third-generation martial artist, Kaiya Brumley was born into the Taekwondo University family, stepping onto the mat at just five years old and earning her 1st Degree Black Belt at age eleven. Growing up at Taekwondo University, she competed on regional sparring teams and traveled the tournament circuit for three years as a core performer on the school's elite Competition Team. Kaiya later expanded her athletic background in competitive cheer, archery, and high school wrestling, building a versatile foundation in dynamic movement, mental toughness, and leverage. After graduating Kaiya returned home to the family business as her father took ownership of the school. Now a 3rd Degree Black Belt instructing side-by-side with her dad, Kaiya brings deep empathy, athletic versatility, and a lifelong passion for the family legacy to inspiring the next generation of martial artists.

Jason Overstreet

Jason Overstreet’s martial arts journey began in the 1990s right here at Taekwondo University’s Hickory Hill location in Memphis, TN. With over 20 years of training under his belt, Jason has grown alongside the school and is a dedicated student. Now a 4th Degree Black Belt, Mr. Overstreet brings decades of experience, deep technique, and a passion for passing down the long-standing traditions of Taekwondo.
